Frequently Asked Questions
When you are looking at having a swimming pool you are bound to have lots of questions…
Here are some we get asked…
I don't have a very big yard and it is kind of a strange shape. Is it right for a pool?
If your yard is big enough that you’re even thinking about putting in a pool, there’s a very good chance that there is one that’s the right size and shape for your space. We can show you the wide variety available and help you pick what’s right for your yard.
What about stuff like heaters, covers, cleaners, and all of that?
There are a wide variety of options from which to choose when you put in a pool. Some, like a heater, almost everyone adds on. Others, like winter covers and automatic cleaners depend on your location and lifestyle. The important thing to remember is that many of the things you may want to add now, or later, can be prepared for today, so that when you want to add, say, an automatic cleaner next year, the plumbing and fixtures are already in place. In other words, it’s a good idea to plan ahead.
What about permits, licenses, and wiring diagrams?
As to what permits and clearances you will need, that depends on where you live and the rules set by your local government. But fear not, because we will handle all of that for you.
Will I have to put a fence around the pool?
Unless you live in the middle of nowhere, yes, you’ll need a fence. And, frankly, even if you do live at the end of nowhere, we still recommend that you fence in your pool. It’s the best and safest way to keep out unexpected visitors. And if you live around a lot of other people, well, a fence is just as much a part of your pool as the water.
How much time will it take to care for my new pool?
Actually, how much time you spend depends on how much time you want to spend. Of course, back in the “old days”, one of the biggest drawbacks of pool ownership was the amount of time you had to spend cleaning and maintaining the pool. Today, practically every maintenance function can be automated. From winter covers, to solar covers and automatic cleaning systems, your dealer can offer you a number of time and labor saving options that make pool maintenance a real “no-brainer.”
Will a pool change the resale value of my house?
The value of a pool when it comes time to sell your house depends on the geographic location, the particular type of pool and its quality relative to the home you’re selling. When a pool is in good condition and presented properly, it can greatly enhance the value of your home.
Is it safe to have small children around the pool?
Like anything else, you have to teach kids to respect the pool and any body of water. But one of the great advantages of having a pool, is that your kids will learn to swim and learn water safety practices every time they use it. So, you won’t have to worry when they’re at other pools or bodies of water.
